What the WHAT?

Dear Library,

$3?!?! My books have been overdue for less than a week! $3?!?! That is 50cents PER DAY. When did library fines become 50cents per day??? All I could scrounge from the bottom of my purse was $2.80...

You stink,

Me

A Letter.

Dear Facebook,

How dare you dictate how I keep in touch with my "friends"?? No, I do not want to share the latest news with that person because it is (unnecessary, awkward, or inappropriate). Please stop trying to make me be friends with my "friends." It is not going to happen.

Love,

Me :)

Go!

The Carrollton Community Nativity is this weekend. It's a beautiful exhibit with nativity scenes from all over the world and special musical numbers. It's phenomenal.

If you're in the Dallas area, it's definitely a Christmas treat!

Because I think that whoever thought of this is amazing.

Funniest Quote of The Day!

Let me set the scene.... I was talking to my niece Suzy and she asked what I was doing for the rest of the day:

ME: Well, I'm going to finish getting ready and then I'm going to go change my name!

SUZY: Change your name?? To what??

ME: Hmm.... to your last name....

SUZY: Oh, I thought you meant you were changing Kathleen.... and I was like "What?! That's weird... ok... have fun!"

Spreading the Word

I'm pretty sure my closest besties have all heard about Rita's by now, but I promised that I would spread the word! So, when I was little, we used to get "Water Ice" allllllll the time.... and it's yummy. In Philadelphia, there were a ton of different stands that sold it.. but outside of Philadelphia... there's only Rita's!

Well, now there's a Rita's about 3 miles from us and we love it! So, you should probably click here and see if there's one near you. It's a super-yummy dessert... and cheaper than going out for ice cream, too!!

Ok, now I think we've earned the free quart that the owner gave us last night as we were about to leave :)

Aaw!

How stinking cute is THIS?!?!?!?!

Ok, Now...

I watch a lot of daytime court TV shows.

You know: Judge Judy, People's Court, Divorce Court

Well, on Divorce Court she always asks why the couple is getting a divorce.

And the woman always mentions how her husband always leaves the toilet seat up.
...and how she falls in the toilet in the middle of the night.

As a daughter, friend, and wife...
let me just tell you that I've walked in to the bathroom hundreds of times to find that someone left the seat up.

And in my 23 years (and about 21 of using the toilet), I have never fallen into the toilet.

NEVER.

So tell me.... does this actually happen?
Do some women fall in toilets?

My Prediction

Ok, so the big controversy is that the Parents Council is freaking out over the promo for tonight's GG:

I want to make sure that my official prediction is on the record. Let's be honest, ratings are down a little from the first two seasons. I think it's just a clever PR scheme. Think about it: The Parents Council is giving GG a ton of attention.... which means that now, new people will watch because they're curious. My official prediction is that the episode will not be what they're expecting.

Don't worry, Parents Council... we've all fallen for that trick at one time or another. Just last month I fell for it when my friend's ex-girlfriend un-blocked me on Facebook so that I could find her blog and Steve and I could tell her ex-boyfriend that she's engaged. I had a feeling I knew what she was doing.... and I fell for it anyway! See, it happens to the best of us.

T-minus 105 minutes........

UPDATE: I was wrong.... very wrong... but let me just tell you... it was probably the most boring "scandal" to ever be on TV.

Yum, Yum!

When I was in college, it was always a real treat when family came into town and took us to Tucano's! Well, last night Steve and I got to go to a similar restaurant called Texas de Brazil. It was so fun! They just come around with huge slabs of beef, chicken and pork on stakes. I swear I ate an entire cow! It was so yummy!

And since we desperately need to start taking more pictures... TADA!

Paging Dr. Obama

Let's Review.....

In August, the government rolled out a little plan called "Cash for Clunkers." Do you remember what happened there?
  • The web page was so slow that it was almost impossible for dealers to finish the paperwork.
  • Dealers dished out millions in rebates and weren't even sure they would get paid back.
  • The program ended early because it ran out of money.
This flu season, we've all been scared into wanting the swine flu vaccine. Now the government is in charge of distribution. Are you aware of what's happening now?
  • There are 159 million people in the top 5 priority groups... any many in that group cannot find the type of vaccine they need.
  • Health Departments are telling individuals to contact their private doctors... and private doctors are telling individuals to contact the Health Department.
  • HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stated that ample vaccines will be available for all on October 26..... today is November 5 and it doesn't look like they're even close to being available for all.
Something needs to be done about the insane state of our health care system.... but I'm not convinced that the government can do any better than the insurance companies.

Given the two giant failures of government-run programs this year, do you trust the government to handle your family's health care? I don't.

So Cute!

Every morning when we leave our apartment, we see this:

He's left home alone, so he just sits there and looks out the window all day. We feel so bad for him!
Don't get me wrong, I still don't want a puppy... but I kind of want this one....

For Liz

Steve wanted you to know that he was offended when we made fun of Ed Hardy.

Finally!

I finally watched 17 Again after renting it twice.... for a grand total of $8 at the redbox! $8! I'm glad that I did, though... because it was hilarious! That little Zac Efron is just so funny. Plus, I thought it was great that they made fun of Ed Hardy. I guess I just don't get Ed Hardy. It was funny when Zac's buddy was making fun of his clothes and he said, "Dude... you're bedazzled."

Which then reminded me of the WNCI remix of "Party in the USA" called "Ed Hardy in the USA." Enjoy:

But that copy kinda stinks... so for better quality, go here!

I Give Up. It's Going Back.

Our apartment stinks of acetone and disappointment tonight. Sally Hansen nail polishes were buy one/get one free last week at CVS. Naturally, I couldn't resist and I decided that it was time to try the pricey stuff. So, I bought myself a Color Quick pen and a Nail Art pen thinking that it would make for a really quick french manicure. NOT. Hate them both. The Color Quick pen comes out clumpy and the Nail Art pen is too hard to steady, so my nails came out looking crappy.... four times. That's right. I painted my nails four times before calling it quits for the night. I still have the receipt, but not the boxes they came in. I'm going to try to return them to CVS, and I'm going to try to get buy one/get one on a better polish.

Boring People Make Ugly Dolls

Don't get me wrong, I have never seen nor read anything Twilight. Vampires just aren't my thing. I also wish that people weren't so obsessed with the boring actors. Seriously, they're boring. Get them off of my gossip sites!

BUT, I'd like to think if I were any of the "stars" of the series, I would be totally offended by how terribly unfortunate looking these action figures (see also: dolls) are.

Picture Perfect!

This is what our living room looks like currently:

We're in the process of moving. It's going a lot better than it looks, I promise. But to be completely honest with you, we don't actually own furniture... so even before we started to move, it was just a big, empty room.

I'm excited to make our next apartment a home. I can't wait to decorate! I love picture frames. I think that pictures in nice frames are a great way to add personality to decorating. The big problem with displaying pictures is trying to find a way to display all of my favorites without it looking cluttered. Enter, PopSugar's cousin, CasaSugar. We all know that I love my celebrity gossip, but today it actually gave me a super idea:

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!

T-minus 75 minutes until.......

.Vanessa.Dan.Serena.Nate.Chuck.Blair.Jenny.

And until then, an update on my surprisingly busy life:

My birthday was fabulous. Steve surprised me with Dunkin Donuts, a super-cute shirt and a clean car! We walked around the mall, then had dinner at Mr. Sushi and ice cream at Cold Stone. It was a great birthday... and surprisingly, 23 didn't hit me as hard as 22 did... remember that? Anyway, 22 turned out to be a pretty awesome year and I'm looking forward to 23 being just as great!

We took a fun trip to find a new place to live because our lease is almost up... and if we don't figure out something, we're going to be homeless. I think the trip was a success. It sure was tiring! I'm pretty excited, though... can we say "cable included"??

Work has been keeping me busy. It's really not so bad for a job. It's good for now, but certainly not forever.

The next few weeks will be busy busy between packing and getting things in order to move. Thank goodness for one thing..... GG starts in 1.25 hours!

Today's My Birthday!

...who doesn't love a day that celebrates me??

Calling All Democrats!

Ok, so at my little job we're having an up-sell competition. We're selling items for donation to a local charity. No surprise, I'm doing quite well. Anyway, in order to keep my top 3 position, I ask every person who smiles to me if they would like to donate (I don't bother with the meanies). Tonight I asked a lady who politely said no... and then gave me a whole resume of her public service efforts... like I cared. I told her, "oh, ok. Really, I just wanted to know if you would donate now..." to which she responded, "No, I wanted to let you know that I give back. I'm not one of those people who just thinks that life is good and sits back and does nothing. Those people are called Republicans."

WHOA NOW.

Of course, I politely stood up for myself, and of course she tried to minimize my points by saying, "well, that's an exception." (PS- When you're calling everything an "exception," you're missing the meaning of the word, but whatev.)

So that lead to an interesting discussion (calm) at work about political beliefs. Now, I am sincerely calling to all Democrats reading this today: please leave a short comment detailing why you are a Democrat. Of course, this comes with some rules....

1. Be positive--tell me why you're a Democrat and not why you're not a Republican.
2. No use of the words: Bush, Homophobic, Hope, Change, etc.
3. Don't unfairly generalize.
4. No talk of Obama being your favorite president unless you have two facts to support that. ("he just is" is not a reason, despite what I've heard from many people).

All in all, I just want to hear from an intelligent Democrat why he/she chose the party.

So I'm giving you a few days to convince me that somebody has a reason.

...because no offense, Democrats, most of your "peers" are doing you a disservice... and the people I've come into contact with lately have me almost certain that nobody has a clue why they've chosen their political affiliation.

How to Make People Feel Bad for Begging:

I had to run to the drug store unexpectedly last night. When it was my turn to pay, I realized that I didn't have my debit card!! Instead, all I had was a check! I asked the pharmacist (who was checking me out because they were busy) if I could write a check. He said, "Umm.. sure. $1."

I wrote a check for $1. How embarrassing is it that I didn't even have enough change to pay $1?!

But it gets better... I was in a shady part of town and when I was getting back into my car, a shady-looking man asked me if I had $1 so he could catch the last bus of the night. I said, "I have no cash, I'm sorry." And he said, "Ma'am, I only need $1." And I said, "Sir, I just wrote a check for $1. I seriously have no cash." And he said "Oh. Sorry to bother you."

I felt bad, so I got in my car and dug around for some change. I found about $1.50 for him.

But if you ever want someone to stop pestering you for money, tell them you had to write a check for $1. Apparently that's pathetic enough to make them feel bad for asking you for money.

Some Thoughts on Miss Universe

1. Worst Spanish translator ever. He is seriously terrible. He made the girls sound like idiots. They couldn't find a better translator?

2. Why does the (male) host keep commenting on how "devilishly handsome" Dean Cain is?

3. Love Kosovo's dress.

4. Australia is adorable.

5. Why am I watching this?

Update: Way to go, Venezuela. You may have a sucky, corrupt government, but at least you have Miss Universe (still).

All I Want is a Stupid Candle.

A few years ago, I laughed at one of my friends when I found out that he wrote to Quaker when he could not find the Oatmeal-to-Go in the Apple flavor.

Today, my friends, I must admit that I just wrote my first ever product complaint email.

The subject: The Fragrance Collection Candles by Glade (specifically the 2-oz candle)

The problem: I have a coupon that came in my Sunday paper for a free 2-oz candle available "wherever Glade products are sold."
and
I'm not entirely sure that the 2-oz candle exists...
...because it is not available anywhere that Glade products are sold...
...not at Target, not at WalMart, not at Giant Eagle, not at CVS...
...and I'm pretty sure that I've wasted enough time and gas over this stupid candle that I could have purchased the 5-oz candle.

The solution: An email detailing my brand loyalty and current disappointment.

The response (hopefully): A coupon that I can actually use, please?

Update: I got my response today. The response was that the candle is very popular due to the coupon, but surely I will find one before the October expiration date. Also, maybe I should call ahead to void unnecessary driving. (As a retail clerk, I can tell you that there is nothing worse than a person calling to see if you carry something... don't be lazy, people). Considering the stores that I've checked have not even had a freaking shelf-tag for it, I am still not convinced that it exists. Screw you, Glade. Yeah, I said it.

Dream Shopping

A few nights ago, Steve and I went to the mall to eat at Five Guys (which we both agreed was good, but not anything that we'd ever think, "Oooh, let's go there!"). After dinner, Steve was such a sport and walked around with me while I "Dream Shopped." You know... when you drool over things that you can't afford... and things that you probably wouldn't buy even if you could afford it because you can probably find it nicer for less elsewhere. We went to this neat store called West Elm.... then we went to Williams Sonoma (more for Steve... I'll never understand why anyone needs a thousand-dollar pots & pans set)... then to Pottery Barn... and Restoration Hardware.

I'll admit it... I had a lot of fun "Dream Shopping," and hoping that it's really "Someday Shopping." I'm not the only person who does this, right?

Where do you like to Dream Shop?

Oh, I Thought You Meant Like a Plumber...

Do you ever have one of those "when did THAT happen?" Buster Bluth moments?

Lately, my BB moments have occurred while eating lunch.

From the time that I was old enough to realize that McDonald's was nasty, I wouldn't eat there without protesting. I always preferred Wendy's.

Now, something strange has happened. McDonald's is actually good.... really good. To make things weirder, I am actually now disappointed every time I eat Wendy's. I now find myself asking, "why didn't I go to McDonald's?"

"I was like, when did THAT happen?!" Steve says that McDonald's started to get better with the "I'm Lovin' It" campaign. I couldn't tell you because I wasn't lured to McDonald's again until they started selling $1 sodas last summer. But I can tell you that Wendy's sure has gone downhill since Dave Thomas died.

Finally, Someone Said It.

My Facebook newsfeed is being abused. More often than not, it's full of people I haven't talked to since high school, and they're usually complaining about something stupid. Why do I keep them around? Well, sometimes it's down-right entertaining (____ hopes her hubby don't go 2 jail 2-morrow).

One of my Facebook friends posted a CNN article entitled "The 12 Most Annoying Types of Facebookers." So, which one are you?:

The Let-Me-Tell-You-Every-Detail-of-My-Day Bore

The Self-Promoter

The Friend-Padder

The Town Crier

The TMIer

The Bad Grammarian

The Sympathy-Baiter

The Lurker

The Crank

The Paparazzo

The Maddening Obscurist

The Chronic Inviter

You know them all. Not sure which one you are? There's even a quiz. I took it and it basically told me I'm cool... like I didn't already know that! Ha! It's worth taking a few minutes to read. Hilarious.

XOXO

My Life According to Brit-Brit

(This picture is from the Glory Days and in no way represents Ms. Spears now)

I've been super-slacking lately, I know. Now I'm super-klepto, too. I borrowed this fun little list from Molly's facebook page.

What you do is pick one artist and answer the questions entirely in their song titles. Since Molly already chose John Mayer, I picked Britney Spears. Let's see if this works out well... haha.

Are you a male or female?
Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman

Describe yourself:
Outrageous (hahaha)

How do you feel:
Lucky

Describe where you currently live:
Don't Go Knockin' on My Door
(seriously, though... it kind of scares me when I'm home alone and someone knocks...)

If you could go anywhere where would you go?
Where Are You Now

Your favorite form of transportation:
That's Where You Take Me

Your best friend is:
Bombastic Love

What's the weather like:
What U See (Is What U Get)

Favorite time of day:
One Kiss from You

If your life was a TV show, it would be called:
My Prerogative

What is life to you:
Anticipating

Your fear:
Kill the Lights
(I'm kinda afraid of the dark)

What is the best advice you have to give:
Do Somethin'

Just Wondering...

...has anyone else noticed that Nicole Richie has been pregnant for what seems like an unnaturally long time?

I mean... it's been a really, really long time.

That kid is going to be 15lbs by the time it's born.

A List.

I stole this idea from my friend Jordan... it's kinda fun...

SIX THINGS THAT EVERYONE LOVES--EXCEPT ME

1. Twilight

I've never seen the movie or read a single book. Maybe I'll get around to it someday, but I have never really been into the sci-fi/fantasy stuff. When I watch movies like that, all I can think is, "yeah frickin right."

2. Chinese Food

I don't like Chinese food or anything like it (Thai included). For some reason, it just doesn't feel like my body can digest it. It just sits in the bottom of my stomach and makes me feel disgusting. I don't like the taste of it, either... but I mostly don't like it because of the way it makes me feel.

3. Mexican Food

Keeping with the food category, I do not like Mexican food, either. For some reason, corn tortillas make my stomach hurt. Once, I got tricked into eating "awesome" Mexican food by one of my friend's boyfriends... and I thought I was going to vomit every time I smelled food for the next 3 days. That's happened every time I've had actual Mexican food. I love Taco Bell's regular tacos... and I also love chips and salsa... but that doesn't count as Mexican.

4. Soccer

I don't get why people would want to watch men run up and down the field for 90 minutes hoping that this will be the game where something exciting happens. It won't. Plus, I don't really understand the rules and I think most soccer fans are tools. Yeah... I said it.

5. Scary Movies

Once, I went to see "The Others" with my friends Libbi and Walpole, and I had to have Libbi's parents take me home early. That's right, folks: I left the movie early because I was terrified. Another time, after a group of people watched "What Lies Beneath," I had to have a friend spend the night because my parents were out of town and I was scared to go home alone. It's mostly ghost movies that get me... I'm not afraid of scary movies when it's people being scary at all. I can pepper spray a serial killer.... I can't pepper spray an evil ghost.

6. Swimming

I love a good water park; I love a relaxing day floating on the pool and working on my "tan" (see also: freckles). I never learned how to actually swim, so when it comes to just hanging out and swimming in a pool with a million other people, I don't enjoy it. Even worse is when I give in a decide to go to the pool and someone gets my hair wet.

6.5: Getting my hair and face wet in the pool when I am neither at a water park nor floating on a raft.

Undecided.

Yup... I'm undecided on this video that Steve showed me last night.

I think 57% of me hopes that this isn't real...

...but then there's the other 43% of me that thinks this is totally funny.

I Want to Go to There.

According to Wiki, 2004 was a leap year that started on a Thursday. It was the year that Ronald Reagan died, and the year that Facebook was started. It was the year that they manufactured the last Oldsmobile, and the year that Friends ended. It was also the year that I graduated from high school.

That's right, friends. I have been graduated from high school for five whole calendar years.

A few weeks ago, I received a Facebook invite to my class reunion. I didn't even know that they had five year reunions. I mean.... five years? Most of my class still sees each other every weekend, anyway.

As luck would have it, Steve and I both have the night off.... and we're going! Let's hope that I grew into the "cool, pretty crowd." Let's also hope that I don't find out that I was the mean, sarcastic girl. Let's just hope that my reunion goes better than Liz Lemon's. Wish me luck!

And because it's a funny episode... and it's back on Hulu for some reason this week..... enjoy!

Too Much TV?

I'm expecting an unproductive Fall. Let me tell you why:

Not only do I already have shows that I am addicted to:
  • Gossip Girl
  • Bones
  • The Hills
  • 30 Rock
  • The Office

But the stupid CW is probably going to add a few more to that list..... have you seen previews for Melrose Place & The Beautiful Life? I feel like I'm going to be watching a ton of TV.

Ok, so that's only 5.5 hours of regular TV, but we all know that it's going to lead to me watching the news or whatever syndicated shows are on before and after.

So there you have it. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Thanks, Dubs!

For some reason, this is the funniest thing I've seen all day.... and I saw a lot of stuff today...

Speaking Of....

I don't remember if I've spoken of my obsession with Deal or No Deal yet. It's just so good and it's on for an entire hour in the afternoons. Did you know that? Two full episodes!

I have a problem with one standard practice, however. I feel that too often the contestants have expectations far higher than they should on any game show, especially one based totally on luck. They have these high hopes and they tell Howie that with their $500k, they're going to go to grad school... or finally move out of their parents' house... or help their mom retire... or move to Nashville and work on their music for a year. These are great dreams and all, but then at the end when the person walks away with $750, I start to feel bad. I feel bad that they're never going to get to go to grad school... or move out of their parents' house... and their mom is going to have to continue to work into her old age. The "songwriter" who wanted to move to Nashville took a deal for $30k and believed that she could move and not work for a year and just live off of her winnings until she was a famous songwriter. You should have seen Howie's face when she said that! $30k is a lot, but I think she's forgetting about the taxes that they're going to take out before she sees any of that money.

If I am ever on Deal or No Deal, I think I'm just going to tell Howie that I'm going to go shopping... and blow it all! That way, if I end up leaving with $8, I don't look like a sad, pathetic idiot.

Have You Heard?

Michael Jackson died.

(Last known photo where Michael Jackson looks somewhat human.)

Ok, now can we please talk about something else?

Like how Glamour magazine put Blake Lively in the "Full Chested" category?

Or how Katie Holmes is finally letting her man-haircut grow out?

PopSugar is finally reporting that JT and Jessica Biel look miserable?

Or how Deal or No Deal is about to start....

Please, something that changes my life any?

A Love/Hate Relationship

Why must you do this to me, Betty Crocker?
I'm obsessed.
I've made (and eaten) 2 boxes in the last 2 weeks
(with very little help from Steve).
You're going to make me fat.
I hate you, Betty Crocker.

Overheard....

I wish I could make this stuff up.....

GIRL 1: You've been here, haven't you?
GIRL 2: Wait, where?
G1: You know, that one place with the faces... in the big rock?
G2: What?
G1: Here... this... (holds up picture on magazine)
G2: Oh... nope.
G1: I thought you went to that state?
G2: Montana? No.
ME: That's South Dakota.
G2: Oh... haha... I've never been there either!

R-O-O-D.

Sure! I'll use that in a sentence:
The words in the National Spelling Bee are rude.

Can you spell apodyterium?

What about herniorrhaphy?

Psittacosis?

Geusioleptic?

Conchyliated?

Passacaglia?

Acoirdupois?

Tagliatelle?

Omphaloskepsis?

Honestly, most of these aren't even showing up in the spell check.

Are these even words?!?!

Baby Geese

Steve laughed at me for how excited I was to see the baby geese on Sunday night. After last night, I feel the need to be a little more specific:

Baby geese are cute when:

they are waddling past my back door while I am safely studying inside my apartment.

Shoot-it's even funny when Momma and Poppa Goose chase, hiss, and scare the crap out of the ducks!

Baby geese are not cute when:

they are eating right next to my front door.

Turns out it's not as funny when Momma and Poppa Goose chase, hiss, and scare the crap out of me!

Happy Monday!

Took a little study break today to catch myself up with Battle Studies. It just made me incredibly excited for John Mayer's next album. Then I decided to put together a little JM playlist to listen to for a little bit. It was going to be a "Best Of" playlist... but it's so long that it kind of defeats the purpose. This forced me to reminisce.

I think it's safe to say that John Mayer is my absolute favorite musician. You know when you can just hear a song and remeber exactly where you were when you heard it for the first time? The entire "Room for Squares" cd reminds me of high school. Sophomore year to be exact.

"Heavier Things".... summer of '06 in PHX. Just happened to come across it at the library. I had forgotten all about my good buddy JM from my high school days. This album reminds me of long drives to work... sitting in rush hour traffic... JM & I rekindled our friendship that summer.

Then came "Waiting for the World to Change" that same summer. Our friendship was strained as I tried to pretend that I didn't loathe that song. As a result, I had no interest in "Continuum."

"Continuum".... summer of '07 in DC. BP convinced me that the entire cd was nothing like that one stupid song and I decided to give it a try. I was floored. The cd is amazing. It was on constant repeat on my iPod. I continued this well into my senior year.

Summer of '08 was all about "Where the Light Is..." and then Dubs and I went to see him live... and he was astonishing. Absolutely amazing. The best part is that his band is comprised of these (sorry if I offend anyone) old, accomplished men. He jams with super-stars. While his wardrobe was unfortunate, he put on an amazing show! I was super-excited to re-live the experience when BP sent me the dvd for my birthday!

And then I was thinking... this is the way music should make you feel. It should be something that you can always come back to. It should remind you of good times with good people. And I love the feeling knowing that his new music will be associated with new memories.

What artists make you feel this way?

Here are my 20 top faves! Enjoy:

Overheard (again).

I stopped at the Kro-ghetto yesterday on my way back to school to pick up some flashcards. I was looking in the school supply aisle when I overheard the best pick-up line I've heard in a while. The old man was standing at the self check-out and a young Kroger worker-girl was helping him. When she walked over, the following conversation took place:

MAN: How are you today, Miss?
GIRL: I'm fine, thanks. How are you?
MAN: Not as fine as you are!

Don't Judge Me.

I joined Twitter today. I know, I know... like I need one more thing to distract me. Since Facebook totally messed up the Friends page, I feel like I need Twitter to fill the void in my life. I do not ever intend to "tweet," but I am super-nosy.

I am currently following 5 people. 4 real people & Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. Please send me your name or suggestions for more people to follow. Also, if it's a celeb and you know which one is really them, that would be super-helpful.

New Layout

I decided that there was too much going on. I decided to change the layout. It gave me something to do when I should be studying.
Let me know what you think.

Walking in Spiderwebs

Last Thursday night I fell asleep with the TV on and woke up in 1996.

This song brings back happy memories. Fifth grade. Tragic Kingdom was the 2nd CD I ever owned... the first if you count the ones I still own. My mom was mad that I joined the BMG music club... but c'mon.. I got 6 CDs for a PENNY! This song is full of memories of Carrie, Andrea, Erin and I rocking out in our playroom. Setting my desk lamp on top of the fun-with-food kitchen as a spotlight. Said desk lamp falling and breaking from the sheer awesomeness of our rocking. Trying to find our way to the light switch without stepping on broken glass. Trying to get all of the glass cleaned up without my grandma (our babysitter for the night) knowing so she wouldn't tell my parents. We sure did have a lot of fun with this song!

Story Time.

Yesterday I probably did the worst thing I've ever done in my life:

I STOLE AN ICY DRINK

I've had a pretty boring life, I know. Steve said it's not actually stealing because I didn't mean to do it, but still... I took it without paying!!

I took my wedding dress to the seamstress that my mom wants me to use... who is about an hour away. My mom called as I was headed back. Right before I got on the interstate, I stopped at the gas station. I walked in, poured myself a nice icy drink, got back in my car and drove away. One hour away. I stopped at Target on my way home. As I was walking around, I thought to myself, "I'm really thirsty! But I have got to stop spending so much $$ on icy drinks when I have tons of DC at home" (Thanks to Giant Eagle... 3 for $9 this week) Then I thought about it and realized I didn't even pay for the one that I just finished!! I was walking around with a stolen drink!! I felt terrible, but there's no way I'm going to drive 2 hours out of my way to pay $1.39, so I quickly texted Google to get the phone number. (What did I ever do without Google?) I called the gas station and asked if they could take a credit card over the phone. The man was not happy with me and told me that he could not. He then said "are you here often?" and I said "I try not to be..." and he said, "will you be back soon?" and I said "possibly next week, but I don't know for sure." So then he said, "just pay for it next time you're here." and I said "Thank you! I'm so sorry!" and he hung up the phone.

Oops. I really hope they don't have my picture hanging in there.

We're Mean Girls.

We've all done this. Don't pretend that you haven't... it doesn't make you any better than us. M broke up with her boyfriend in February. There appeared to be some controversy over his ex-girlfriend. Today while we were sitting in the library, we of course had to look at pictures of his ex-girlfriend and make comments. M's comment takes the cake:

If that's what he's missing, I've got nothing for him. I can't compete with that. I mean, she's wearing white eyeshadow... and I know this picture wasn't taken in 1998!

Another Favorite

Yesterday while I was supposed to be getting ready for church, I was reminded of another favorite: The Sunday Morning Home Show. It's an awesome 1/2 hour infomercial from a local real estate office that gives virtual tours of homes that are having open houses in the area. Yesterday I said to myself, "Self--you get 15 minutes and then you have got to start getting ready for church." Thirty minutes later, I was still watching... and I was 15 minutes late to church... but I just can't help it! It's fascinating. I'll still never understand how people in beautiful $1.75mil homes can have such crappy furniture, but whatever.

Now if they could only start having more open houses on Saturdays, I'd be set.

An Instant Favorite

By now you all know how much I love celebrity gossip, right? It's certainly no secret. A few months ago I added another celebrity blog to my list of must-reads.

Overheard.

It's no surprise that my eating habits haven't exactly changed from the time that I was five. My favorite foods are all the same. On that note, I have a confession: on more than one occasion in the past month, I got the strangest craving... a gas station hot dog. When I have this craving, I drive to this nice little gas station down the road from school to get one. They have been phenomenal. Go ahead, judge me.

Today while I was sitting in the cafe area of the store, I overheard what could be the funniest thing I've heard in a while:

"He just went in the house, grabbed a gun, and shot out the windows. And that is how my mom's car got shot up."

I quickly finished my lunch and headed back to school.

I Don't Hate It...

I don't hate Heidi... you all know that I really feel bad for her, right?

Ok, that being said... PopSugar posted one of her new songs this morning. Surprisingly, I like the song... but Heidi's voice just isn't strong enough. Maybe a techno-dance version by Lady Gaga or wait a few years until it's age-appropriate for Miley Cyrus? Really, just someone who won't whisper it. What do you think of this song? Could it be good if someone else released it?

The Little Red Suzuki

I was scrolling through my phone to text my sister today and found a listing that I forgot about:

Car--Red Suzuki

I put this one in my phone on my way home from Michael's and Lowe's about a week ago. I was turning onto the interstate and I pulled up behind a car that looked like this:

But there was something different about this little red car. On the back, it had giant vinyl letters that said:

MY CELL: 614-893-4973
CALL ME NOW OR CALL ME LATER

So I risked my life putting that number in my phone while turning.... because it naturally sparked my interest. Only I'm too nervous to call it myself.

So that's where you come in! Will you call that number (block your ID, if possible) and see why he has his phone number on the back of his car?

You know what... that would be helpful if you wanted to call and tell him to speed up or move out of your way... or if his turn signal was on for miles... or if he had a flat tire?

It would be so fun if everyone called, don't you think?
Maybe he has a different reason for everyone?
If you call.... tell me what he says! Leave a comment!!

A Suggestion...

Dear Little Sister,

I'm sure you're still wondering what you could possibly get us for our wedding. Considering that you are just as passionate about cleaning products as I am, I have a suggestion... the H2O Mop!

Since I only have 3 channels, I ended up watching the infomercial on Saturday morning and I am sold. It picks up EVERYTHING! With STEAM. We need this. Thanks in advance!

Love,
Neen
