We Dance

I use the term "dance" loosely.  See for yourself:

This is George's car seat "dance."  Actually, it may just be his "Blurred Lines" dance. We love that song... don't judge.  Either way, it consists of wearing sunglasses and shaking his head back and forth... slowly to the beat.  You're going to have to turn your head sideways because I don't know how to flip this.  Stupid portrait-style phone.

This is our dance party tonight.  I started some music and George started dancing.  At some point, his blankies got involved.  He made me re-start this same song for about 40 minutes straight.  By the time he was done dancing, he was sweaty and exhausted.  Ruthie even got in on the dancing!

Let's just talk about summer music for a second:  there are a lot of songs that we like this year.  And I think "Blurred Lines" is catchy enough to give it a pass on how dirty it is.  However, Selena Gomez, "Come and Get It" is annoying... and therefore, I cannot excuse the filth.  George really likes "I Don't Care" by Iconapop.  I learned the hard way that I have to look for the radio-edit version.  He runs around yelling "I DON'T CARE!"  which may not be a great thing.... but it's funny.

Let's Chat.

Ok, friends.  I know you have been holding out on me.  Why have you never told me about:

  • Friday Night Lights - The TV show (Steve told me it's also a movie, but he didn't like the movie).  Umm.. I love it.  And I'm pretty sure I have cried a few times and I am only 7 episodes in.
  • Pretzel M&Ms - Seriously... they are delicious!
You've all really let me down.  I feel like I am really late to both of these parties.  What else are you not telling me about??

Wanna Feel Good?

...about yourself in a bathing suit?  Go to my city pool.  Seriously.  I went there and thought "Oh my gosh! Why do I even care?? Obviously no one else does!"

...about your dancing?  Watch this video:

I love TaySwif, because either she doesn't care what other people think of her (and that's great) or she is oblivious and thinks her dance moves are totally awesome.  This kind of reminds me of the dancing of one of my old college friends.  Except she did it totally serious... like biting her lip and trying to look sexy.  We laughed at her behind her back (not great).  One time she told me (in all seriousness), "and he told me that I was the best dancer he has ever seen!"  About some boy trying to date her.  She was really pretty...

Reading Challenge

I am so bad at reading my scriptures.  I'll admit that right away.  This reading schedule looks doable.  So, join me!  If you're not familiar with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and The Book of Mormon, you can learn about my church here!

PS- I stole this image from something I saw on Pinterest.  There is also a 30 day schedule if you are feeling more ambitious.  I am going to go with 90 day for now and who knows... maybe I'll challenge myself with the 30 days later!

The Royal Baby

Today on the radio, they were talking royal baby names.  I only heard part of it because my own little babies were making a ruckus in the back seat.  (Mostly demanding "More firetruck!"... which means he wants "I See a Firetruck" on the Little People cd.  There's really only so much of that song that I can take.)

Well, they announced on the radio that bookmakers are calling "George" the favorite name if Will & Kate have a boy.  Another news article I just read said the favorite is "James."  Can I just say that all morning I have been saying a silent prayer that this little baby is a girl?  Is it selfish of me to not want my son's name to become the new trendy name??  We like the name "George" regardless of its popularity... but I think something we like about it is that it is a common name (ie- people can pronounce and spell it and our son will not have to explain it) but it isn't very popular.

Do I sound ridiculous, fellow mommies?  Did anyone else put this much thought into naming their child??

A Quick Trip!

We visited family for a short 3 day trip!  It was nice to get away and see so many people we haven't seen in a while!  We packed so much into those 3 days, though!  Including 3 trips up in the mountains (I saw a baby moose in the wild), a campfire and delicious smores, a ferris wheel ride, visiting with family, swimming, a hike, dinner at Cafe Rio, and lots of family fun!  I didn't take many pictures, but here are a few:

After the most grueling hike of my life!
To be fair, it wasn't really that hard... I just don't usually hike.

Yes, this is as dangerous as it looks.

Oh, Steve!

On the Ferris Wheel!

Mean, but also a little true........

This is a baby moose!  The dark spot in the middle.
