Be My Accountabilibuddy, Please.

Last night, as I was eating my 3rd Cadbury Creme Egg, I reflected upon why I have felt so icky lately. I think it may have something to do with the way I eat.

So, starting today, I'm resolving to eat better. I'm off to a pretty good start. I had a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast... and I didn't go back for seconds. Now is the time where I get that craving for my usual mid-morning snack, a cup full of chocolate chips. I'm not going to give in. Instead, I'm opting for a caffeine-free Diet Pepsi.

This is going to be difficult, but I think I'll make it. Keep me accountable, please?

And for cuteness's sake:

I Like This.

It really should be followed up by, "provided that you're working hard and not a total idiot." I guess that just goes without saying, though. It's a happy little thought. Me gusta.

A New Obsession.

I don't remember what we were looking for, but Steve and I stumbled upon my new favorite website the other day. Maybe you already know about it and I'm a little behind, but did you know about HotPads??

Although I'm not the most fashionable person (I blame budget + lack of effort, really), I do enjoy decorating blogs and magazines very much... and I even more love watching House Hunters on HGTV (just the regular one... not international). If there were more open houses on Saturdays, I would be at every one. I just love looking at houses. I love seeing different spaces and the way others have decorated them.

Well, this website is like a stinking open house at my fingertips! I love it! Check it out!

Funny Story

I was cleaning out my email inbox and found an exchange with my mom:
MOM: What's the name of the hospital where you'll deliver the baby?
ME: (Insert hospital name here)
MOM: Wow--less than 6 weeks to go!
ME: I know! Crazy! When Steve was putting the crib together, he said 'you know, we could have a baby in 3 weeks!'
MOM: Yikes!
The funny thing about this thread? That was exactly 5 days before I had George! Whoa was I not prepared!

Our Easter

This was George's first Easter! We went to church, took naps, and made a delicious dinner! It was a great day with our little family! We didn't take a lot of pictures (surprise!), but here's one of George & his basket and one of Steve & I at dinner!

And a close-up of my fabulous new haircut:

Silly Me!

I promised pictures from Amanda's visit... so here they are!

George at the zoo! He was such a happy boy!
Me, Amanda & George at our apartment.
Before we took Amanda to the airport.

Also, a funny story. I lost my debit card last week. I looked all over and couldn't find it. I was starting to think that I was going to have to replace it... and I was getting stressed out about figuring out which bills were linked to that card... and having to call and switch cards. It was seriously gone for one whole week. I had to take a check to Target.

So yesterday, Steve did some laundry. Before he left for work, he handed me an envelope with a note on it telling me that he got me a present and he hopes that I like it.... and it was my debit card! Yay! It was in the back pocket of a pair of pants! It's not lost after all :)

Updates! Updates!

Just as I was bragging about how often I've blogged this year...

We got super busy! We had a fun and busy visit with Amanda! It went by too fast! And I was terrible at taking pictures (as in, I took none). Amanda is going to email me the ones she took. There are some adorable ones of George!

Speaking of Baby G, he is now 4 1/2 months old! I can't believe how fast time is flying! He rolled over a bunch again this week. He rolled that one time a few weeks ago and then not again until this week! It was so funny--he spit up while playing on his play mat before we went out the other day. I put him on his tummy so that I could wipe off the back of his head. The little booger rolled over! I said, "Yay, George! But I put you on your tummy for a reason!" and I put him back on his tummy. He rolled again. I put him back and he rolled 2 more times. Little stinker! He only rolls when I need him on his tummy!

Today, he rolled from his back to his tummy, but he was laying on the couch, so I think that may have something to do with it. This is bad, though... because I'm going to have to be careful just plopping him on the couch! Also, today he did really, really well in the Bumbo! He didn't lean to the side at all! Then he started crying because he was tired and done.

Here's a cute picture of George with his giraffe, Glenn:

He loves his stuffed animals lately. He loves to hug them and kiss them... and try to bite off their faces!

Also, I got a Groupon a while ago to a fancy shmancy salon downtown. I used it today. I got my hair cut (probably close to 4 inches) and it looks fab-u-lous! I'll post a picture when I get one that is better than just a self photo on my cell phone (that I took to send to Amanda).

I hope you're all doing well and look forward to catching up on all of your blogs! XOXO

2010: Horribly Documented

I was getting to my blog rolls today to check and see if some of my favorites have updated in the last hour (I know, I know... I need something better to do while George is sleeping). Well, then I noticed that last year, I posted 58 times. How pathetic! 2010 was a horribly documented year, both in pictures and blogs! This year, I have already posted 78 times! I guess I just have to say that 2010 was an exhausting year... I worked 2 part-time jobs for the first few months, and then one horrible full-time job and a pregnancy for the next 6 months... and then I was busy, busy preparing for a baby! I'm glad this year is documented a lot better... because I know that you all want to see this:

Long Over-Due

Tonight, I finally put away most of my maternity clothes. I'll put away the rest after I wash them.

Why? Because wearing maternity clothes is not cool when you're not pregnant... no matter how comfortable they are.

So, maternity clothes... so long. Until next time....

Breaking News!

This was the first sentence on the news just now:
"As the weather heats up in North Texas, feral hogs are on the move!"
Is that the most important thing going on right now? Feral hogs?

On a cool note, I learned that the population of feral hogs can double in 4 months.

And here's a picture of a baby wild hog... proof that every animal is cuter as a baby:

A Week of Firsts!

Where is my baby going?? He turns 4 months old today and has had a big week!
All this week, he has:
  • Rolled from tummy to back
  • Rolled from back onto his side (not at the same time as the other roll)
  • Tries to stand when I try to sit him on my lap
  • Found his thumb & put it in his mouth
  • Started putting toys in his mouth (and being more interested in toys in general)
  • Passed a toy from his right hand to the left
  • Grabs at the toys on his playmat and has become a pro at making the tiger sing
I love that he's learning new things, but I don't want him to grow up so fast!! Now I know how my Pop-pop felt when he always used to tell me that I wasn't allowed to grow up! When I was 5, I would just laugh and say, "but I HAVE to grow up!"

Here's a picture of George with his keys--putting them in his mouth for the first time:

And a first for me! I made the little tie on this onesie. The knot is sewn down, but the tie is floppy. I reinforced the tie so that it will withstand George's super grip. It's a little crooked, but it's the first one I've made. Hopefully I'll get better as I make more (and more efficient with my time... this took for.ev.er.)

Bad Ideas and Good Discoveries!

I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea:
It was a bad, bad idea.
(Past tense because they're gone already)

But on a happy note, George found his thumb today:
I didn't get the picture fast enough,
but his thumb was full-on in his mouth.
This is such a fun age... he's learning new stuff every day :)

(Almost) Four Months!

This Friday, George will turn FOUR months old!
I can't believe how fast these past 4 months have gone!

Last week, George had his first cold. We went to the doctor on Friday just to make sure everything was ok. I didn't want to worry all weekend. So, then we had George's 4 month check-up today. I'm pretty sure we had the same nurse... and she probably thinks I'm crazy.

Today, though was his physical. George is now 15.5lbs and 25.5" long. He's in the 75th percentile for height and weight and 50th percentile for head circumference (can you believe with that big noggin' that he's only in the 50th percentile??).

So, at one point the nurse practitioner asked if he rolls yet... I said, "no... should he be??" She said that 4 months is the average, but that it's no big deal if he doesn't yet. Well, we came home and today during tummy time, GEORGE ROLLED OVER! We were so proud of him! Of course, we didn't get it on video... and then we tried to re-create it and failed miserably. He just wasn't having it. We'll get it on video soon... and when we do, believe me--you'll see it!

For Snooki, Press 1

I only watch Jersey Shore when there is absolutely, positively nothing else on TV. Promise. I'm not even trying to cover anything up... you know that I would tell you if I was watching it on a regular basis. I have no shame when it comes to reality TV. I love it.

Anyway... I've seen this episode a few times now. This clip makes me laugh EVERY time. Like, pee my pants laughing. Pauly D and The Situation are my faves. They're just so funny. We would be friends. This is a crappy quality, but enjoy!

Replaced, but not Forgotten.

I got a new key chain yesterday. It's my first time actually buying something on Etsy. Wish me luck! This is what it's supposed to look like:

I also got a washer (yes, like the hardware washer) with my phone number stamped on it. Hopefully I will never again lose my keys!
