Bad Advice.

Dear John Mayer and My Beloved Dubs:

I decided to take your advice. You're wrong. You are both wrong. It is not better to "say too much than never to say what you need to say." Sometimes saying what you need to say just makes you look and feel like an ass. So now I am going back to my old MO with my tail between my legs. I will continue to bottle things up until they're irrelevant for the rest of my life... because, unlike your advice, this actually works.

XOXO,

Kathleen

Oops!

Last night we went out on the town. Eh, it was great, then good, then bad, then good. One of "those nights" for sure! Noteworthy, though was the following conversation:

BOY: No, I'll pay!

Annee: No. I got it.

BOY: No! (hands over his money)

Annee: Are you sure? Thanks!

ME: Ut oh, Annee! My mom says that when boys pay, they expect things!

BOY: Usually--except for when the boy is gay!

ME: Oops!

I'm Bossy!

The other day I drove to school behind the coolest vanity plate ever:

P BOSSY

I automatically wanted to be friends with this lady.

Knows Just What to Say...

I have been meaning to post about this for a few weeks now and I just keep forgetting. It's funny enough to warrant a post a few weeks after, I think!

A few weeks ago, I met up with some friends from high school at this little Mexican restaurant (I didn't eat). For some reason we were on the subject of baby horses... and whether the momma horses produce milk to feed them. My friend Zach said, "No. I'm pretty sure baby horses just start eating hay and [crap]. They're born, like.... your size. They're not small!"

So then my friend Drew reminded me of the time that Zach said, "So, Kathleen--you're not ugly anymore!"

Hey, thanks!

Always Pink!

Yesterday what started off as an innocent trip to Best Buy (just to look) quickly became very expensive (for my dad). I was looking at new laptops since mine sucks. After I thought I was done looking, out of the corner of my eye I saw the most perfect laptop EVER! Now, it was perfect because it's pretty. I'm not stupid, though... I know a laptop should be more than just pretty... blah, blah, blah. So I smiled nicely at the Geek Squad guy who told me all about it. Apparently it really is a fabulous computer! (I don't remember all of the details because LBH, I don't really care.)

So the Geek and I were talking and he found out I'm in law school and said, "A pink laptop? How very Elle Woods of you!" to which I didn't actually respond. So then he said, "I just must warn you that, while this is a great laptop... it will always... be pink." And I said, "I'm ready and willing to make that commitment." So today, after school and moving into my new apartment, I am going to Best Buy to pick up the most fabulous pink computer, ever!

Break-Up Notice.

I hope nobody out there is about to break up with my blog because of the insane amount of political posts lately, but I have a bone to pick with MTV.

First, I was promised a performance by Miss Britney and all I got was a video clip and then her saying "Welcome to the VMAs." Lame.

Second, I don't even know the name of the host (that's how unimportant he is in my book), but I was very offended by his opening monologue. Everyone is entitled to their own political opinions, but he's not even American. I am offended that he would not only talk badly about our president (for whom I proudly voted and would again), but also that in doing so he basically insulted the American people. THEN he started making fun of Palin's pregnant daughter and her boyfriend. I believe he said something about that being the biggest PSA for safe sex--make sure it's safe because if she ends up pregnant, you have to become a Republican? THEN he was making fun of the Jonas Brothers for their commitment to remain virgins until they're married. He was just insanely rude. It was uncalled for. I had enough and turned off the TV after 10 minutes.

So, MTV. We're breaking up. It's been a long road. We've had some good times. We first met while you were playing "No Rain" by Blind Melon. I remember sneaking to see you with my finger on the "last channel" button at age 7... terrified that my mom was going to walk into the room at any moment. I remember voting for *NSYNC on TRL (back when it was good). We've made a lot of memories over the years, but I'm afraid it's over. For real. No exceptions. (PS-Someone's going to have to fill me in on The Hills tomorrow).

XOXO

McCain/Palin '08!

Dear Sarah Palin,

Despite the fact that your children have ridiculous names, I think you are fabulous! Not only are you a little spitfire, but you are also cute! Thank you for not having a "mom" haircut. Thank you for showing America that a woman can be intelligent, involved, and attractive. Thank you for reminding us that a woman can balance a political career with a large family. Up until this point, the only examples we had of women in politics were ones that were ugly and were single or had very small families. I hope to someday be as fabulous as I think you are right now. Keep up the good work!

XOXO,
Kathleen

Noteworthy

The other day I was talking with some fellow law-schoolers when I quoted a line from one of my favorite movies. I can't even remember the line now, but I said nothing about it even being a movie quote and one of my new besties said, "Clueless. Don't try to bust out the movie quotes like I won't know them!" and I thought, "Marry me?" I didn't say actually that... because that's creepy. Nevertheless, the fact that he called out my Clueless quote earned him some points in my book.

So Little Time!

I feel like I have so much to discuss and in so little time! This law school thing is really getting in the way of my life. Too bad I love it, huh?

First--My birthday occurred as scheduled, despite my efforts to cancel it. It really was a great day, though! There is no other way that I would want to celebrate this non-milestone than to get sushi with a few of my besties followed by an after-party of watching the RNC and eating chips and dip. This was one hell of a birthday! Thanks to all involved! XOXO

Second--My Obama post the other day got 30 hits!! 17 of those came from Chris & Val's blog alone! Thanks to everyone who has me linked to their blog. If you have me linked and I have not yet linked you, let me know!!

Third--Gossip Girl. Really, if you saw it, I don't have to say anymore--except that I will say more... and you will like it. I decided that I love little Jenny Humphrey's hair. I tried to find a picture but failed. When my hair grows out from this awful boy cut, I am totally tracking down a picture of her to take in to my next appointment! (Hopefully by Thanksgiving if my vitamins work the way they're supposed to!) Nate is hott, Chuck is fabulously slimy, Serena & Dan aren't going to make it, Blair is gorgeous and I want to be her, and I think Erik should stop being gay and date Jenny. Can't wait for next week! Moving on...

Fourth--The Hills. Lauren-that was the most awkward break-up. Ever. Spencer-I want to make you un-on my TV. Stephanie-there is a huge difference between a hamster and a guinea pig. Like, a species. Something doesn't start out as a hamster and then become a guinea pig. I did laugh for a few minutes, though.

Fifth--(I had to spell check fifth... but I did spell it right on my first try!)--Bones tonight. 2 hour season premiere. I don't know how I'll deal without Zack-a-roni, but I am still pretty pumped!

Have a good night, everybody!! XOXO

Happy Labor Day!

I hope that you have a fabulous day of nothing planned! (I wish I could say the same about myself).

Ooh, enjoy GG tonight! It should be ScAnDaLoUs!! Be prepared to discuss tomorrow.
