Oh, Katherine!

It seems like every-other day while doing celebrity "research," I come across a new celebrity claiming to be a "lapsed Mormon." Is that what's "hip" these days? Today is certainly no exception. I read on Perez that Katherine Heigl said the following of her apostasy:

"I'm not as disciplined about it was I once was, but I hope
to find my way back as I get older and a little less selfish. I'm ashamed to say
that I've just got very lazy about it. I satisfy my vices instead of fighting
them. If I start going back to church, I'd have to stop the smoking and
drinking. And I wouldn't be able to curse anymore."
My first reaction was: "Huh?"

My second was: "Yeah, the smoking and drinking might be a problem, but who says she needs to stop cursing?" I sent a little email to Holly to share this story and she said, "Yeah, someone should really tell her about the Holly and Kathleen School of Acceptable Language For Mormons."

So there you have it, Katherine Heigl. We love you for you and will accept some of your vices and help you work through the others. Come back to church! If you can handle it... but as with the rest, I assume you are all talk. (oh, and PS- whoever told you those sunglasses looked good on your face hates you.)

Just This Once.

Dear Mr. American Airlines,
Had I known that you were going to make me pay $40 to check my luggage, I would have never purchased a ticket from you out of principle (even if my ticket only cost $140). There is not much I can do about this now, but I can promise you that after this flight, you will never see me again.
XOXO,
Kathleen

Why Wait?

In excitement for the John Mayer concert this week, I purchased his newest live album. LOVE it! I love his acoustic set. Anyway, I was listening to disc 1 last night and it ended and my CD player automatically rolled over to disc 2. The first song on disc 2 is "Waiting on the World to Change." I've had a love/hate relationship with this song from the beginning. First, it is indisputably the worst song on "Continuum." Second, I don't like my music and my politics to mix. Mostly because I disagree politically with many of my favorite musicians, but also because they often have no idea what they're even talking about.

So anyway, I understand the concept of this song. John doesn't feel as if people take "our generation" (haha, Holly!) seriously enough for us to make a real difference... so he's waiting on the world to change. I find that to be a rather negative and somewhat defeatist approach. "Someday our generation is gonna rule the population, so we keep on waiting on the world to change." To that I say, why sit around and wait? Situations don't change without action.

So John, you can wait on the world to change and in the meantime, I'm going to go out and change the world.

For Dubs

Erin and I went to Outback the other night. After she ate 2 1/2 loaves of the good bread and shoved the remaining half in my to-go box, we began talking about how many loaves of bread we could get before she started charging us. A second later, our waitress came back with our check and said "I bet I would be your best friend if I brought you a couple of loaves for your to-go box, huh?" Erin said, "Umm.. yes!" Then I asked the question that we discussed earlier and she said, "Honey, you're asking the wrong person... I would bring you bread all night if you asked for it!" She went away and came back with 2 loaves of bread in a to-go bag. She asked us whose section we were going to ask for next time and we said, "Cee Cee's!"

Good Grief!

So this morning I was actually pretty on-time while getting ready for work. I got dressed, made myself breakfast (don't get too excited, just an Oatmeal to Go and water!) and headed to the car. I sat down and hear a puff sound. I looked at my car seat thinking that I ripped something. Oh no, it wasn't the car seat... it was my pants! A giant hole in the most inappropriate of places! Do I have another pair of khakis? No, I don't. So I put on a pair of leggings and hurried out the door. Am I going to buy another pair of khakis for my last 3 days of work? No, I'm not. Thank goodness for leggings!

Nooooooooo!

"Well, if a girl like you can't hold on to her man, there sure as hell isn't any hope for the rest of us!" -Paulette from Legally Blonde.

Please tell me this isn't true!

Happy Birthday to ME!

No, silly! Today is not my birthday. I will be the big 2-2 on September 2. I will receive the best birthday present any of us can ask for... well, besides tons of money so I don't have to take out student loans. This is a close second... more like a first and a half.

Perez Hilton is reporting that 90210 starts on my birthday! Not only is that the first night... but we get TWO HOURS! I am just thrilled!

And as a birthday-eve present, Gossip Girl is returning on September 1! Oh, thanks, CW! I didn't know you cared so much!! This is going to be the best birthday EVER!

Bull Freaking Crap!

I went to Red Robin tonight (Yummmm). While waiting for my food, I read the promotional stuff in the middle of the table. Turns out they have a contest where children ages 6-12 can make up their own burgers. Grand prize is a family trip to Universal Studios and the burger is featured i n the restaurant. Sounds cool enough... except for when I saw what won in 2007.

Meet Joey (left), age 11. Little Joey's burger is called the "Au Brie A La Francais." It is a sirloin burger with au gratin potatoes, brie cheese, balsamic marinated tomatoes on a focaccia bun. Joey is 11. To that, let me be the first person to say bull freaking crap. 11 year old boys do not know what focaccia bread is. Shoot, my 18 year old sister didn't even know what it is.

When asked why his burger should be served at Red Robin, he answered, "It’s a burger like no other and each bite is a trip to France. When I grow up, I want to be a chef in a five-star restaurant and this is my perfect opportunity."

Congratulations to Joey and his parents for cheating some hopeful, honest little kid out of a trip to Universal Studios. I hope you have a nice vacation.

Simple yet Profound

An equation...

Go see "Hancock" if you haven't already. Seriously. Amazing.
