Dear Television Execs:

Just because the stupid winter Olympics are going on does not mean that all of my favorite shows need to be re-runs (or in some cases, not on at all).

Because to be honest... the Winter Olympics are 95% lame.

And I would rather be watching GG or Bones.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Love,

Me.

One Year Ago...

(yesterday) Or really, 366 days ago...

Early in the afternoon, I received this cryptic text message from my boyfriend:

"Dinner tonight?"

"On a Thursday?" I thought...

but instead, I responded "Sure!"

Then I didn't hear from him for a really long time. I got ready to go out and then sat, and sat, and watched TV until I finally heard from him that he would be over to get me around 8. 8?! I was starving!

So around 8, I hear a knock on the door. Steve looked so nice... and he was acting kind of weird. The first thing he asked me was, "Did your dad just call you?" And I said, "no.... why?" and he just ignored the question. He seemed really nervous.

So we got in the car and he didn't even ask me where I wanted to eat... we were just driving. (That never happened!) So we start heading in a familiar direction... toward Franklin Park. He parks the car, and by this point I knew why we were there... and I started to get nervous!

We walked across the street to the park, and literally 3 steps into the park, I lost Steve.... I turned around and he was down on one knee!!

And just like that, we were engaged!! My ring is beautiful! We walked around the park (yes, in February...) until we decided to go to dinner. We ate at California Pizza Kitchen (where we had our first date). Our phones were ringing off the hook, but we didn't answer them during dinner! We started calling our family once we finished dinner! It was a great night!!

Last night to celebrate, we went to CPK and walked around Barnes & Noble. Oh, what a wonderful year it has been!!!

I only had one picture from that night... and now I can't even find that... so here is one of our engagement pictures from the set that we hated:

Attention Friends:

I know that it is really annoying, but I am going to have to adjust my settings so that "Word Verification" is back on. I have received too many advertisements lately as comments. From today forward, you will have to type that annoying little word in the box. I hope this does not discourage you from commenting!

Love,

Me.

I'll Never Let Go.

Yesterday I was really tired. I mean really, really tired.

...because I stayed up to watch Titanic on TV.

...even though I've seen it a bizillion times.

I just love that movie.

How many times have you seen it?

Do you stay up late to watch it on TV?

Please, tell me I'm not alone!

Welcome to the Neighborhood...

A few months ago, our downstairs neighbors moved out. They really didn't bother me except for their last night when they were super-loud on their balcony at 2-freaking-am. The apartment was empty for a little while.

Thursday, new people finally moved in. Or maybe just one person... I really don't know... and I really don't care to know because:

Thursday night, their moving truck took up SIX parking spots in a PRIME location, and

Tonight, I've listened to their crappy techno music for TWO AND A HALF HOURS.

Am I turning into an old lady?? I just don't understand why for most people, living in an apartment means that you get to be as obnoxious as possible.

Oh, Boy.

Dear Jake,

I'll admit that I'm not an expert on the rules of "The Bachelor." I don't usually watch it because it conflicts with Gossip Girl.

With that little disclaimer, I think I should tell you that I feel as if you are taking this show a little too seriously. Really, I understand that you don't want to waste these poor girls' time by keeping them there when you know you're not going to pick them, but think about this: they pretty much acknowledged that they have nothing better to do with their time when they auditioned for "The Bachelor."

The way you're sending home women, next week could be the finale. I know that Chris Hanson was super-supportive last night, but the man still needs to feed his family. You can drag this out for another month... and please do because it's kinda entertaining and Gossip Girl isn't back until March.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Sexy Chick

So, I don't know if you've heard this new song.... but right in the chorus he proclaims:
I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectful.
Makes me laugh every time.

(PS- In case you haven't heard it, "Sexy Chick" is the non-disrespectful description that he finds)

It's Time

Dear Library,

Remember the time my books were 6 days late and you charged me $3.00? Well, this time my books were 3 weeks late...

So I think the obvious thing to do here is break up. Actually, I will probably just stop calling you and stop coming around until you eventually forget about me. We're both better off this way, I promise. You got your books back, and I'll get to keep my $9. We'll call it even. Maybe someday we'll meet again...

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Grocery Shopping

We're now a "buy 2 gallons of milk at a time" family.
There are only 2 of us.
Can you imagine when we have kids??
How many gallons at a time will we have to buy then??

Thumbs Up.

I feel like sometimes people don't get enough credit for great customer service. I just wanted to point out some individuals who deserve to be recognized:

Jessica from the XM Sattelite Radio call center: I called to cancel my XM subscription and she actually gave me 4 extra months for free. I'll be calling back in May to re-cancel. Hopefully she will be as helpful then :)

The men & women of my local United States Post Offices:I must say that I was rather impressed with the attitudes of the workers this Christmas season. The last few mailing-days were crazy around there.... yet they moved everyone through the lines efficiently and were so nice!! Way to go, guys!
